حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَجُلٍ نَسْتَأْذِنُهُ أَنْ نَكْوِيَهُ. فَسَكَتَ، ثُمَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى، فَسَكَتَ، ثُمَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ الثَّالِثَةَ فَقَالَ: ارْضِفُوهُ إِنْ شِئْتُمْ. كَأَنَّهُ غَضْبَانُ.

✧ We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a man, asking his permission to cauterize him. He remained silent. Then we asked him a second time, and he remained silent. Then we asked him the third time, and he said: 'Cauterize him with heated stones if you wish,' as if he were angry.
