✧ I went to Abu Jahl while he was injured and his leg was amputated. He said, "So I began striking him with my sword, and he could not move or do anything with it." It was said to his partner in the conversation, who used to boast with his sword, "Did you see him?" He replied, "Yes." It was asked, "Did you keep striking him with his sword until you killed him?" He said, "I continued until I took his sword and struck him with it until I killed him." Then I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Abu Jahl has been killed, and perhaps his partner has killed Abu Jahl." The Prophet asked, "Did you see him?" I said, "Yes." He asked, "Did you see him twice?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Go and look at him." So I went and saw that the sun had changed from him in some way. The Prophet ordered him and his companions to be dragged and thrown into the ditch. I followed the people of the ditch with their curse and he said, "This was Pharaoh of this nation."
