✧ I witnessed from al-Miqdad — Abu Nuaym said: Ibn al-Aswad — a scene; that I myself had been its companion would be dearer to me than whatever was equivalent to it. He came to the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was supplicating against the idolaters, and said: ‘By God, O Messenger of God, we will not say as the Children of Israel said to Moses: “Go, you and your Lord, and fight; we are sitting here.” Rather, we will fight on your right, on your left, in front of you, and behind you.’ I saw the face of the Messenger of God ﷺ light up, and he was pleased by that. Aswad said: I saw the face of the Messenger of God ﷺ light up for that, and it pleased him. Abu Nuaym said: I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ, his face lit up, and that pleased him.
