✧ We were with Umar when Sa‘d and Ibn Umar asked him about wiping over the leather socks. Umar ruled in favor of Sa‘d, so Ibn Abbas said: I said, 'O Sa‘d, we know that the Prophet ﷺ wiped over his leather socks, but was that before the [revelation of] al-Ma'ida or after it?' He said: Rawh said: Or after it? He said: No one will tell you that the Prophet ﷺ wiped over them after al-Ma'ida was revealed. Umar fell silent.
