حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ الْخَيَّاطُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ
أَنَّ عُمَرَ زَادَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ مِنَ الْأُسْطُوَانَةِ إِلَى الْمَقْصُورَةِ، وَزَادَ عُثْمَانُ، وَقَالَ عُمَرُ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: نَبْغِي نَزِيدُ فِي مَسْجِدِنَا مَا زِدْتُ فِيهِ
Translation

✧ Umar expanded the mosque from the pillar to the maqsura, and Uthman also expanded it. Umar said: Were it not that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'We should expand our mosque,' I would not have added to it.
