حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أُخْتِي نَذَرَتْ أَنْ تَحُجَّ، وَقَدْ مَاتَتْ ؟ قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهَا دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتَ تَقْضِيهِ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَاللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَحَقُّ بِالْوَفَاءِ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Wakīʿ
  2. Shuʿbah
  3. Abū Bishr
  4. Saʿīd b. Jubayr
  5. Ibn ʿAbbās

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “My sister vowed to perform Hajj, but she has died.” He said, “Do you think that if she had a debt, you would pay it?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Then Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, is more deserving of fulfillment.”
