✧ Dimad al-Azdi came to Makkah and saw the Messenger of God ﷺ with boys following him. He said: 'O Muhammad, I treat madness!' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Praise belongs to God; we seek His help and His forgiveness, and we seek refuge in God from the evils of our souls. Whomever God guides, none can lead astray, and whomever He leads astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but God alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' He said: 'Repeat these words to me.' Then he said: 'I have heard poetry, soothsaying, and divination, but I have never heard anything like these words. They have reached the depths of the sea. I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' So he became a Muslim. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him when he became a Muslim: 'For you and your people?' He replied: 'Yes, for me and for my people.' Later, a raiding party of the Prophet's ﷺ companions passed by his people and some of them took something from them—a waterskin or other item. They said: 'This is from the people of Dimad, return it.' So they returned it.
