حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ وَيُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ ابْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ جَمِيلٍ بِنْتِ الْمُجَلِّلِ قَالَتْ
أَقْبَلْتُ بِكَ مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنْتُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى لَيْلَةٍ أَوْ لَيْلَتَيْنِ طَبَخْتُ لَكَ طَبِيخًا فَفَنِيَ الْحَطَبُ، فَخَرَجْتُ أَطْلُبُهُ. فَتَنَاوَلْتُ الْقِدْرَ، فَانْكَفَأَتْ عَلَى ذِرَاعِكَ، فَأَتَيْتُ بِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: [بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي] يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاطِبٍ فَتَفَلَ فِي فِيكَ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِكَ، وَدَعَا لَكَ، وَجَعَلَ يَتْفُلُ عَلَى يَدِكَ وَيَقُولُ: أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ وَاشْفِ وَأَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا قَالَتْ: فَمَا قُمْتُ بِكَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ حَتَّى بَرَأَتْ يَدُكَ

✧ I brought you from the land of Abyssinia until, when I was a night or two from Madinah, I cooked something for you and the firewood ran out, so I went out to look for some. I reached for the pot, and it tipped over onto your forearm. I brought you to the Prophet ﷺ and said: [May my father and mother be your ransom] O Messenger of God, this is Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib. He spat into your mouth, wiped your head, and supplicated for you, and he began to spit on your hand and say: Remove the affliction, Lord of humankind, and heal, for You are the Healer; there is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness. She said: I did not rise with you from his presence until your hand was healed.
