حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَبُوهُ قَالَ

نَزَلْتُ عَلَى أُمِّ أَيُّوبَ الَّذِي نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ. نَزَلْتُ عَلَيْهَا، فَحَدَّثَتْنِي بِهَذَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُمْ تَكَلَّفُوا طَعَامًا فِيهِ بَعْضُ هَذِهِ الْبُقُولِ، فَقَرَّبُوهُ فَكَرِهَهُ، وَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: كُلُوا، إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ، إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أُؤْذِيَ صَاحِبِي

Translation

✧ I stayed with Umm Ayyub, the woman with whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed. I stayed with her, and she narrated this to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: they prepared some food containing some of these herbs, and they served it, but he disliked it and said to his companions: 'Eat, for I am not like any of you; I fear that I might annoy my companion.'
