حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ الثَّقَفِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ

أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَدَعَتْ لَهُ بِسَوِيقٍ فَشَرِبَ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، أَلَا تَتَوَضَّأُ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَمْ أُحْدِثْ. قَالَتْ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ

Translation

✧ that he entered upon Umm Habiba, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and she called for some sawiq (barley mush) for him, and he drank it. She said to him, “O son of my brother, will you not perform wudu’?” He said, “I have not broken my wudu’.” She said, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘Perform wudu’ from that which the fire has touched.’”
