حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ

لَا يُحَدُّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ إِلَّا الْمَرْأَةُ فَإِنَّهَا تُحِدُّ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا لَا تَلْبَسُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا إِلَّا ثَوْبَ عَصْبٍ وَلَا تَكْتَحِلُ، وَلَا تَطَيَّبُ إِلَّا عِنْدَ أَدْنَى طُهْرَتِهَا نُبْذَةً مِنْ قُسْطٍ وَأَظْفَارٍ

Translation

✧ Mourning is not to be observed for a deceased person beyond three days, except for a woman, who mourns for her husband for four months and ten days. She should not wear a dyed garment except a garment of 'asb (Yemeni striped cloth), nor apply kohl, nor use perfume except when her purity is nearest, a small amount of qust and azfar (types of incense).
