✧ I was loading the baggage for the Messenger of God ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage. He said: One night he said to me, “O Maʿmar, tonight I have found my camel girths loose.” He said: I said, “By the One who sent you with the truth, I had fastened them as I always fasten them. But someone loosened them who envied my position with you, so that you would replace me with another.” He said: Then he said, “Indeed, I will not do so.” He said: When the Messenger of God ﷺ slaughtered his sacrificial animal at Mina, he ordered me to shave his head. He said: I took the razor and stood at his head. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ looked into my face and said to me, “O Maʿmar, the Messenger of God has placed himself at your mercy with the lobe of his ear, and in your hand is a razor!” He said: I said, “By God, O Messenger of God, that is indeed a blessing and favor from God upon me.” He said: Then he said, “Yes, in that case I acknowledge it for you.” He said: Then I shaved the Messenger of God ﷺ.
