✧ A sheep was gifted to him, and he put it in the cooking pot. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered and said, “What is this, O Abu Rafi’?” He said, “A sheep that was gifted to us, O Messenger of Allah, and I cooked it in the pot.” He said, “Hand me the foreleg, O Abu Rafi’.” So I handed him the foreleg. Then he said, “Hand me the other foreleg,” so I handed him the other foreleg. Then he said, “Hand me the other foreleg.” He said, “O Messenger of Allah, a sheep has only two forelegs.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “If you had remained silent, you would have kept handing me foreleg after foreleg as long as you remained silent.” Then he called for water, rinsed his mouth, and washed the tips of his fingers. Then he stood and prayed. Then he returned to them and found cold meat with them, so he ate. Then he entered the mosque and prayed without touching water.
