حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ أَنَّ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ يُوسُفَ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بَعْدَمَا قُتِلَ ابْنُهَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ فَقَالَ
أَنَّ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ يُوسُفَ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بَعْدَمَا قُتِلَ ابْنُهَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ ابْنَكِ أَلْحَدَ فِي هَذَا الْبَيْتِ، وَإِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَذَاقَهُ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ، وَفَعَلَ بِهِ وَفَعَلَ، فَقَالَتْ: كَذَبْتَ كَانَ بَرًّا بِالْوَالِدَيْنِ، صَوَّامًا قَوَّامًا. وَاللهِ لَقَدْ

He was dutiful to his parents, fasting much, praying much. By God, indeed...'
