حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي إِيَّايَ حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الْحَمِيدِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو وَالْقَاسِمَ أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يُخْبِرُ أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ

أَنَّهَا لَمَّا قَدِمَتِ الْمَدِينَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُمْ أَنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ فَكَذَّبُوهَا، وَيَقُولُونَ: مَا أَكْذَبَ الْغَرَائِبَ ! حَتَّى أَنْشَأَ نَاسٌ مِنْهُمْ إِلَى الْحَجِّ فَقَالُوا: مَا تَكْتُبِينَ إِلَى أَهْلِكِ ؟ فَكَتَبَتْ مَعَهُمْ، فَرَجَعُوا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ يُصَدِّقُونَهَا، فَازْدَادَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ كَرَامَةً، قَالَتْ: فَلَمَّا وَضَعْتُ زَيْنَبَ جَاءَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَخَطَبَنِي، فَقُلْتُ: مَا مِثْلِي نُكِحَ ! أَمَّا أَنَا فَلَا وَلَدَ فِيَّ، وَأَنَا غَيُورٌ، وَذَاتُ عِيَالٍ ! فَقَالَ: أَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْكِ، وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ فَيُذْهِبُهَا اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَأَمَّا الْعِيَالُ فَإِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ. فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَجَعَلَ يَأْتِيهَا فَيَقُولُ: أَيْنَ زُنَابُ ؟ حَتَّى جَاءَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ يَوْمًا فَاخْتَلَجَهَا وَقَالَ: هَذِهِ تَمْنَعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، وَكَانَتْ تُرْضِعُهَا. فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ زُنَابُ ؟ فَقَالَتْ قَرِيبَةُ ابْنَةُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ - وَوَافَقَهَا عِنْدَهَا -: أَخَذَهَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنِّي آتِيكُمُ اللَّيْلَةَ. قَالَتْ: فَقُمْتُ فَأَخْرَجْتُ حَبَّاتٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ كَانَتْ فِي جَرٍّ، وَأَخْرَجْتُ شَحْمًا فَعَصَدْتُهُ لَهُ. قَالَتْ: فَبَاتَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَ فَقَالَ حِينَ أَصْبَحَ: إِنَّ لَكِ عَلَى أَهْلِكِ كَرَامَةً فَإِنْ شِئْتِ سَبَّعْتُ لَكِ، وَإِنْ أُسَبِّعْ لَكِ أُسَبِّعْ لِنِسَائِي

✧ When she came to Madinah, she told them that she was the daughter of Abū Umayyah b. al-Mughīrah, but they disbelieved her and said: 'How untruthful strangers are!' until some of them set out for ḥajj and said: 'What will you write to your family?' She wrote with them, and when they returned to Madinah they confirmed her account, and her honor among them increased. She said: 'When I gave birth to Zaynab, the Prophet ﷺ came to me and proposed marriage. I said: 'Someone like me is not suitable for marriage! I am past childbearing, I am jealous, and I have dependents.' He said: 'I am older than you. As for jealousy, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will remove it. As for dependents, they are to Allah and His Messenger.' So he married her and began coming to her, saying: 'Where is Zunāb?' until ʿAmmār b. Yāsir came one day and took her away, saying: 'This one prevents the Messenger of Allah ﷺ,' and she was nursing her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and said: 'Where is Zunāb?' Qarībah bt. Abī Umayyah, who was with her, said: 'ʿAmmār b. Yāsir took her.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I will come to you tonight.' She said: 'I got up and brought out some grains of barley that were in a jar, and I brought out some fat and cooked it for him.' She said: 'The Prophet ﷺ spent the night, then in the morning he said: 'You have honor with your family. If you wish, I will spend seven nights with you; but if I spend seven nights with you, I will also spend seven with my other wives.'
