✧ My companions spoke to me to ask the Messenger of God ﷺ to tell people to send him gifts wherever he was, for people used to aim their gifts for the day of Aishah, and we love good just as Aishah loves it. I said: “O Messenger of God, my companions have asked me to speak to you so that you would tell people to send you gifts wherever you are, for people aim their gifts for the day of Aishah, and we love good just as Aishah loves it.” She said: The Prophet ﷺ remained silent and did not answer me. My companions came to me and I told them that he had not spoken to me, so they said: “Do not leave him alone; this is not the time to leave him.” She said: Then he came around and I spoke to him, saying: “My companions have told me to speak to you so that you would tell people to send you gifts wherever you are.” She said the same thing to him twice or three times. Each time the Messenger of God ﷺ remained silent. Then he said: “O Umm Salamah, do not hurt me concerning Aishah, for by God, revelation never came to me while I was in the bed of any of my wives except Aishah.” She said: “I seek refuge with God from displeasing you concerning Aishah.”
