✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was commanded to give his wives the choice, he began with me. He said, 'O Aishah, I am going to mention something to you, and you need not hasten until you have consulted your parents.' She said, 'He knew that my parents would not command me to part from him.' Then he said, 'Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: "O Prophet, say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its adornment..." until He reached: "...Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward" (Quran 33:28–29).' I said, 'In which of this should I consult my parents? Indeed, I have chosen Allah and His Messenger, and the Abode of the Hereafter.' She said, 'Then the wives of the Prophet ﷺ did as I did.'
