✧ The Prophet ﷺ sent Abu Jahm b. Hudhayfah as a collector of zakah, and a man disputed with him about his zakah, so Abu Jahm struck him and wounded him. They came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'Retaliation, O Messenger of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'You will have such and such,' but they were not satisfied. He said: 'You will have such and such,' but they were not satisfied. He said: 'You will have such and such,' and they were satisfied. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I will address the people and inform them of your satisfaction.' They said: 'Yes.' So the Prophet ﷺ gave a sermon and said: 'These Laythiyyun came to me seeking retaliation. I offered them such and such, and they were satisfied. Are you satisfied?' They said: 'No.' The Muhajirun were about to attack them, but the Prophet ﷺ ordered them to refrain, and they refrained. Then he called them and increased the amount, and said: 'Are you satisfied?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'I will address the people and inform them of your satisfaction.' They said: 'Yes.' So the Prophet ﷺ gave a sermon, then said: 'Are you satisfied?' They said: 'Yes.'
