حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَعِنْدِي امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدِ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ فَقَالَ: مَنْ هَذِهِ ؟ قُلْتُ: هَذِهِ فُلَانَةٌ، وَهِيَ تَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ أَوْ لَا تَنَامُ اللَّيْلَ [قَالَ ]: فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ: عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يَمَلُّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا.

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon me while a woman from Banu Asad b. Khuzaymah was with me. He said: “Who is this?” I said: “This is so-and-so; she stands in prayer at night, or she does not sleep at night.” He disliked that, until I saw the dislike on his face. Then he said: “Take on of deeds what you can bear, for God, Mighty and Majestic, does not tire until you tire.”
