✧ My maternal aunt Umm Hufayd sent the Messenger of Allah ﷺ some ghee, milk, and dabb lizards. As for the dabb lizards, the Prophet ﷺ spat them out. Khalid b. al-Walid said to him, 'Did you find it distasteful, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Yes' or 'Indeed.' The Prophet ﷺ took the milk and drank from it, then said to Ibn Abbas, who was on his right: 'The drink is yours, but would you permit me to give your uncle to drink?' Ibn Abbas said: I said, 'No, by Allah, I will not prefer anyone over your leftover.' So I took it and drank, then gave it to him. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I know of no drink that suffices instead of food except milk. So whoever of you drinks it, let him say: O Allah, bless us in it and increase us from it. And whoever eats food, let him say: O Allah, bless us in it and feed us with something better than it.'

machine translationI fear that something was inserted into the narrations of Hishām b. ʿAmmār, because when he grew old he changed (taghayyara).
