✧ I spent the night in the house of my maternal aunt Maymunah and watched how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed. He got up and urinated, then washed his face and hands, then slept. Then he got up, went to the water skin, loosened its tie, poured water into a basin or bowl, leaned his hand over it, then performed a good wudu, between the two wudus. Then he stood to pray. I came and stood on his left, so he took me and placed me on his right. The prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was completed as thirteen rak'ahs. He said: Then he slept until he snored, and we recognized when he slept by his snoring. Then he went out to the prayer and prayed, saying in his prayer or in his prostration: 'O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light on my right, light on my left, light in front of me, light behind me, light above me, light below me, and make me light.' Shu'bah said: Or he said: 'Make a light for me.'
