حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَأَى مَخِيلَةً تَغَيَّرَ وَجْهُهُ، وَدَخَلَ وَخَرَجَ وَأَقْبَلَ وَأَدْبَرَ، فَإِذَا مَطَرَتْ سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: مَا أَمِنْتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ كَمَا قَالَ اللهُ: فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضًا مُسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ إِلَى رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ.

Translation

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw clouds, his face would change, and he would go in and out, and come and go. When it rained, he would be relieved. That was mentioned to him, and he said, 'I am not certain that it might not be as Allah said: "Then when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, 'This is a cloud bringing us rain.' Nay, it is what you sought to hasten: a wind in which is a painful punishment" (Quran 46:24).'
