حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَيْمَنُ بْنُ نَابِلٍ عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّ فُلَانًا وَجِعٌ لَا يَطْعَمُ الطَّعَامَ قَالَ: عَلَيْكُمْ بِالتَّلْبِينَةِ، فَحَسُّوهُ إِيَّاهَا، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَغْسِلُ بَطْنَ أَحَدِكُمْ كَمَا يَغْسِلُ أَحَدُكُمْ وَجْهَهُ بِالْمَاءِ مِنَ الْوَسَخِ.

Translation

✧ When it was said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'So-and-so is ill and cannot eat food,' he said, 'You should give him talbina (barley broth).' So they fed it to him. For by the One in whose hand is my soul, it cleanses the stomach of one of you just as one of you washes his face with water from dirt.
