✧ Mu'awiyah wrote with me to Aishah. He said: I came to Aishah and handed her Mu'awiyah's letter. She said: O my son, shall I not tell you something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? I said: Yes. She said: I and Hafsah were one day with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: If only there were a man with us to talk to us. I said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I send for Abu Bakr? He remained silent. Then he said: If only there were a man with us to talk to us. Hafsah said: Shall I send for Umar? He remained silent. Then he said: No. Then he called a man and whispered something to him. It was not long before Uthman came. He turned to him with his face and his speech, and I heard him say to him: O Uthman, perhaps Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will clothe you with a shirt. If they want you to take it off, do not take it off—three times. He said: I said: O Mother of the Believers, where were you from this hadith? She said: O my son, by Allah, I had forgotten it until I did not think I had heard it.
