حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّفِيرَاءِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ
لَوْ كَانَ عِنْدَنَا سَعَةٌ، لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ وَلَبَنَيْنَاهَا، وَلَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ: بَابًا يَدْخُلُ النَّاسُ مِنْهُ، وَبَابًا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ، قَالَتْ: فَلَمَّا وَلِيَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ هَدَمَهَا، فَجَعَلَ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ، قَالَتْ: فَكَانَتْ كَذَلِكَ، فَلَمَّا ظَهَرَ الْحَجَّاجُ عَلَيْهِ هَدَمَهَا، وَأَعَادَ بِنَاءَهَا الْأَوَّلَ
Translation

✧ If we had plenty, I would demolish the Kaaba and rebuild it, and I would make two doors for it: a door through which the people would enter, and a door through which they would exit. She said: When Ibn al-Zubayr took charge, he demolished it and made two doors for it. She said: It remained like that. When al-Hajjaj overpowered him, he demolished it and restored its original construction.
