✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was bewitched such that it was made to seem to him that he did something he had not done. Then one day I saw him supplicating, and he said: “I felt that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, had given me guidance about what I had asked Him.” He said: “Two men came to me. One sat at my head and the other at my feet. One of them said: ‘What is the man’s ailment?’ The other said: ‘He is bewitched.’ He said: ‘Who bewitched him?’ He said: ‘Labid b. al-A‘sam.’ He said: ‘In what?’ He said: ‘In a comb and hair strands, and the spathe of a male date palm.’ He said: ‘Where is it?’ He said: ‘In the well of Dhu Arwan.’” He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went there, and when he returned, he told Aishah. He said: “Its palm trees were like heads of devils, and its water like henna infusion.” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, did you bring it out for the people?” He said: “As for Allah, Mighty and Majestic, He has healed me. I feared to stir up evil among the people because of it.”
