✧ Which of you saw the star that fell last night? I said: 'I did.' Then I said: 'Indeed, I was not praying, but I had been stung.' He said: 'And what did you do?' I said: 'I sought a cure by incantation.' He said: 'And what led you to do that?' I said: 'A hadith that al-Sha'bi narrated to us from Buraydah al-Aslami that he said: There is no incantation except for the evil eye or a sting.' Sa'id - meaning Ibn Jubayr - said: 'He did well who stuck to what he heard.' Then he said: 'Ibn 'Abbas narrated to us from the Prophet ﷺ who said: The nations were shown to me. I saw a prophet with a small band, a prophet with one or two men, and a prophet with no one. Then a huge multitude was raised up for me, and I said: This is my ummah. But it was said: This is Musa and his people. Rather, look at the horizon. And there was a huge multitude. Then it was said to me: Look at the other side. And there was a huge multitude. It was said: This is your ummah, and with them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment.' Then the Prophet ﷺ got up and went inside. The people began discussing that, saying: 'Who are these who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment?' Some said: 'Perhaps they are those who accompanied the Prophet ﷺ.' Others said: 'Perhaps they are those who were born in Islam and never associated anything with Allah.' And they mentioned other things. The Prophet ﷺ came out to them and said: 'What is this that you were discussing?' They told him what they had said. He said: 'They are those who do not cauterize, do not seek incantations, do not believe in omens, and put their trust in their Lord.' Then 'Ukkashah b. Mihsan al-Asadi stood up and said: 'Am I one of them, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'You are one of them.' Then another stood up and said: 'Am I one of them, O Messenger of Allah?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ''Ukkashah has beaten you to it.'

machine translationShuʿbah is the most retentive (aḥfaẓ) of them, and there is no significance to what Ibn al-Aṣbahānī narrated in mentioning Anas, because the memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) transmit it as a mursal report from the ḥadīth of Sharīk, unless this was from Sharīk himself, because Ibn al-Aṣbahānī was meticulous (mutqin).
