حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ
اسْتَأْذَنَ رَهْطٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالُوا: السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: بَلِ السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَاللَّعْنَةُ، قَالَ: يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ فِي الْأَمْرِ كُلِّهِ. قَالَتْ: أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ مَا قَالُوا ؟ قَالَ: فَقَدْ قُلْتُ: وَعَلَيْكُمْ.

✧ A group of Jews sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ and said, "As-sām 'alayk (death be upon you)." 'A'ishah said, "Rather, death and the curse be upon you." He said, "O 'A'ishah, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, loves gentleness in all matters." She said, "Did you not hear what they said?" He said, "I already said, 'And upon you.'"
