حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ

جَاءَ عَمِّي بَعْدَ مَا ضُرِبَ الْحِجَابُ، فَأَبَيْتُ أَنْ آذَنَ لَهُ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ، فَقَالَ: ائْذَنِي لَهُ، فَإِنَّهُ عَمُّكِ. قُلْتُ: إِنَّمَا أَرْضَعَتْنِي الْمَرْأَةُ وَلَمْ يُرْضِعْنِي الرَّجُلُ. قَالَ: تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ، ائْذَنِي لَهُ؛ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ عَمُّكِ.

Translation

✧ My uncle came after the hijab had been imposed, and I refused to permit him. I asked him [the Prophet], and he said: "Permit him, for he is your uncle." I said: "It was the woman who suckled me, not the man." He said: "May your right hand be dusted, permit him; he is indeed your uncle."
