حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو هَانِئٍ
أَنَّ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْجَنْبِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ فَضَالَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ وَعَصَى إِمَامَهُ وَمَاتَ عَاصِيًا وَأَمَةٌ أَوْ عَبْدٌ أَبَقَ فَمَاتَ وَامْرَأَةٌ غَابَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا قَدْ كَفَاهَا مُؤْنَةَ الدُّنْيَا فَتَبَرَّجَتْ بَعْدَهُ فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُمْ وَثَلَاثَةٌ لَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ نَازَعَ اللهَ رِدَاءَهُ فَإِنَّ رِدَاءَهُ الْكِبْرِيَاءُ وَإِزَارَهُ الْعِزَّةُ وَرَجُلٌ شَكَّ فِي أَمْرِ اللهِ وَالْقَنُوطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ

✧ That Abu 'Ali 'Amr b. Malik al-Janbi narrated to him that Fadalah b. 'Ubayd [reported] from the Messenger of God ﷺ that he said: Three [types of people], do not ask about them: a man who abandoned the community and disobeyed his imam and died disobedient; and a female slave or male slave who ran away and died; and a woman whose husband was absent from her after he had sufficed her with the provisions of this world, then she adorned herself after him. So do not ask about them. And three [types of people], do not ask about them: a man who contended with God for His cloak, for indeed His cloak is pride and His waist-wrapper is might; and a man who doubted God's command; and the one who despairs of God's mercy.
