حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيُّ ثُمَّ الْجُنْدُعِيُّ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْخِيَارِ أَخْبَرَهُأَنَّ الْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْكِنْدِيَّ وَكَانَ حَلِيفًا لِبَنِي زُهْرَةَ وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَخْبَرَهُ
أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ: أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَقِيتُ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ فَاقْتَتَلْنَا، فَضَرَبَ إِحْدَى يَدَيَّ بِالسَّيْفِ فَقَطَعَهَا، ثُمَّ لَاذَ مِنِّي بِشَجَرَةٍ، فَقَالَ: أَسْلَمْتُ لِلهِ، أَأَقْتُلُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَعْدَ أَنْ قَالَهَا ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا تَقْتُلْهُ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُ قَطَعَ إِحْدَى يَدَيَّ، ثُمَّ قَالَ ذَلِكَ بَعْدَ مَا قَطَعَهَا، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا تَقْتُلْهُ، فَإِنْ قَتَلْتَهُ فَإِنَّهُ بِمَنْزِلَتِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَقْتُلَهُ، وَإِنَّكَ بِمَنْزِلَتِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقُولَ كَلِمَتَهُ الَّتِي قَالَ

✧ He said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'What do you think if I meet a man from the disbelievers and we fight, and he strikes one of my hands with a sword and cuts it off, then he seeks refuge from me behind a tree and says, "I have submitted to Allah"? Should I kill him, O Messenger of Allah, after he has said it?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Do not kill him.' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, he cut off one of my hands, and then he said that after cutting it off.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Do not kill him, for if you kill him, he will be in the same position as you were before you killed him, and you will be in the same position as he was before he said the word he said.'
