✧ I entered upon Ibn Abbas in the house of Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, the day after Friday. He said: Maymunah had bequeathed it to him, and when he prayed the Friday prayer it was spread for him there, then he went to it and sat in it for the people. He said: A man asked him, while I listened, about ablution after eating food touched by fire. He said: Ibn Abbas raised his hand to his eyes, as his sight had failed, and said: By these two eyes of mine, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution for the noon prayer in one of his rooms, then Bilal called to prayer, and he rose to go out. When he stood at the door of the room, a gift of bread and meat sent by one of his companions met him. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went back with those who were with him, and it was placed for them in the room. He said: He ate and they ate with him. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rose with those who were with him to the prayer, and he did not touch water, nor did anyone with him. He said: Then he led them in prayer. Ibn Abbas only understood the last part of the Messenger of Allah's affair.
