حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا رَجُلٌ فِي حَلْقَةِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ قَالَ
حَدَّثَنَي سَعْدٌ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُمْ أُمِرُوا بِصِيَامِ يَوْمٍ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ بَعْضَ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فُلَانَةَ وَفُلَانَةَ قَدْ بَلَغَهُمَا الْجَهْدُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
Translation

✧ Saʿd, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, narrated to me that they were ordered to fast one day. A man came partway through the day and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so and so-and-so have reached exhaustion.' He turned away from him, and he mentioned the hadith.
