✧ When you hear a hadith from me that your hearts recognize, and your hair and skin soften to it, and you see that it is close to you, then I am most deserving of it for you. When you hear a hadith from me that your hearts reject, and your hair and skin recoil from it, and you see that it is far from you, then I am farthest from it among you.
Notes
machine translationʿUbayd b. Abī Qurrah was uncertain about the two of them, so he said: "From Abū Ḥumayd or Abū Usayd", and he said: "You think that you are close to him." And Abū Saʿīd was uncertain about one of the two, in: "When you hear a hadith from me."
