✧ When he was brought food, he would take from it as much as Allah willed, then send the rest to Abu Ayyub, and it had the trace of his hand. Then food containing garlic was brought, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not eat from it at all, and sent it to Abu Ayyub. His family said to him, so he said: "Bring it close to me, for I need it." But when he did not see the trace of the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in it, he held back his hand from it and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying: "O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be your ransom, this food you did not eat from, shall I eat from it?" He said: "It contains that garlic; [Jibril ﷺ ] asks permission to visit me." He said: "Then shall I eat from it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes, eat."
