✧ A Man from the Companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْ كَانَ يُقْرِئُنَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَقْتَرِئُونَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ، فَلَا يَأْخُذُونَ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأُخْرَى حَتَّى يَعْلَمُوا مَا فِي هَذِهِ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ وَالْعَمَلِ، قَالُوا: فَعَلِمْنَا الْعِلْمَ وَالْعَمَلَ.

Translation

✧ They used to learn ten verses from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and would not move on to the next ten until they knew what was in them of knowledge and action. They said: 'So we learned knowledge and action.'
