✧ Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ بَعْدَ هَذَا الْخَيْرِ شَرٌّ كَمَا كَانَ قَبْلَهُ شَرٌّ؟ قَالَ يَا حُذَيْفَةُ اقْرَأْ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَاعْمَلْ بِمَا فِيهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَأَعَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ خَيْرًا اتَّبَعْتُهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ شَرًّا اجْتَنَبْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ هَلْ بَعْدَ هَذَا الْخَيْرِ مِنْ شَرٍّ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فِتْنَةٌ عَمْيَاءُ صَمَّاءُ وَدُعَاةُ ضَلَالَةٍ عَلَى أَبْوَابِ جَهَنَّمَ مَنْ أَجَابَهُمْ قَذَفُوهُ فِيهَا

Translation

✧ I said, "O Messenger of God, will there be evil after this good as there was evil before it?" He said, "O Hudhayfah, read the Book of God and act according to what is in it." Then he turned away from me, and I repeated it three times. I knew that if there was good, I would follow it, and if there was evil, I would avoid it. I said, "Will there be evil after this good?" He said, "Yes, a blind and deaf tribulation, and callers to misguidance at the gates of Hell. Whoever answers them, they will cast him into it."
