حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ
كَانَ فِي لِسَانِي ذَرَبٌ عَلَى أَهْلِي لَمْ أَعْدُهُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ يَا حُذَيْفَةُ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِأَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

✧ There was sharpness on my tongue toward my family that I did not extend to others. I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: "Where are you from seeking forgiveness, O Ḥudhayfah? I seek forgiveness from God a hundred times every day and turn to Him in repentance." He said: "I mentioned it to Abū Burdah b. Abī Mūsā, and he narrated to me from Abū Mūsā that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'I seek forgiveness from God a hundred times every day and night and turn to Him in repentance.'"
