✧ Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ
أَتَيْنَا حُذَيْفَةَ فَقُلْنَا دُلَّنَا عَلَى أَقْرَبِ النَّاسِ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ هَدْيًا وَسَمْتًا وَدَلًّا نَأْخُذْ عَنْهُ وَنَسْمَعْ مِنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ كَانَ مِنْ أَقْرَبِ النَّاسِ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ هَدْيًا وَسَمْتًا وَدَلًّا ابْنُ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ حَتَّى يَتَوَارَى عَنِّي فِي بَيْتِهِ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَ الْمَحْفُوظُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ أَنَّ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ مِنْ أَقْرَبِهِمْ إِلَى اللهِ زُلْفَةً
Translation

✧ We came to Hudhayfah and said: "Direct us to the person closest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in guidance, conduct, and manner, so that we may learn from him and listen to him." He said: "The person closest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in guidance, conduct, and manner was Ibn Umm 'Abd, until he would disappear from me in his house. And the preserved ones among the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ knew that Ibn Umm 'Abd was among the closest of them to Allah in nearness."
