حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْأَزْرَقِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ

أَوَّلُ مَا يُحَاسَبُ بِهِ الْعَبْدُ صَلَاتُهُ، فَإِنْ كَانَ أَتَمَّهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ تَامَّةً، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَتَمَّهَا قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: انْظُرُوا هَلْ تَجِدُونَ لِعَبْدِي مِنْ تَطَوُّعٍ فَتُكْمِلُوا بِهَا فَرِيضَتَهُ؟ ثُمَّ الزَّكَاةُ كَذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ تُؤْخَذُ الْأَعْمَالُ عَلَى حَسَبِ ذَلِكَ.

Translation

✧ The first thing for which a servant will be brought to account is his prayer. If he completed it, it is recorded for him as complete; but if he did not complete it, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: “Look and see whether you find any voluntary prayer for My servant by which you may complete his obligatory prayer.” Then zakat is treated likewise, then the [other] deeds are taken according to that measure.
