✧ I used to work in al-Daynabadh and cultivate it. Ya'la b. Umayya arrived as governor of Yemen, and with him came men from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. A man from those who had come with him came to me while I was in the field directing water into the crops. He had nuts in his sleeve. He sat by a stream of water, breaking those nuts and eating them. Then he gestured toward Fannaj and said: O Persian, come here. I approached him. The man said to Fannaj: Will you guarantee for me if I plant from these nuts by this water? Fannaj said to him: What benefit is that to me? He said: The man said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say with these two ears of mine: Whoever plants a tree and patiently tends it and cares for it until it bears fruit, then for everything that is taken from its fruit he has charity with God. Fannaj said to him: Did you hear this from the Messenger of God ﷺ? He said: Yes. Fannaj said: Then I guarantee it. He said: And from that came the nuts of al-Daynabadh.
