✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ counted them in my hand—or in his hand: glorification (tasbih) is half the scale, praise (al-hamdu lillah) fills it, magnification (takbir) fills what is between the heaven and the earth, fasting is half of patience, and purification is half of faith.

machine translationAbū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Thawrī, Jarīr b. Ḥāzim, ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mukhtār, Abū al-Aḥwaṣ and Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from Jarī al-Nahdī, from a man of Banū Sulaym, from the Prophet ﷺ. Likewise Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq and ʿĀṣim b. Abī al-Najūd narrated it from Jarī al-Nahdī, from a man of Banū Sulaym. Ibn Shawdhab narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from a man of Banū Sulaym, and did not mention Jarī in it. The first is more correct (aṣaḥḥ).
