حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي شَيْبَانَ وَلَيْثٌ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ

كَانَ يُسَوِّي بَيْنَ الْأَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ وَالْقِيَامِ، وَيَجْعَلُ الرَّكْعَةَ الْأُولَى هِيَ أَطْوَلُهُنَّ لِكَيْ يَثُوبَ النَّاسُ، وَيَجْعَلُ الرِّجَالَ قُدَّامَ الْغِلْمَانِ، وَالْغِلْمَانَ خَلْفَهُمْ وَالنِّسَاءَ خَلْفَ الْغِلْمَانِ، وَيُكَبِّرُ كُلَّمَا سَجَدَ، وَكُلَّمَا رَفَعَ، وَيُكَبِّرُ كُلَّمَا نَهَضَ بَيْنَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ إِذَا كَانَ جَالِسًا

Translation

✧ He used to make the four rak'ahs equal in recitation and standing, and he made the first rak'ah the longest of them so that the people would arrive. He placed the men in front of the boys, the boys behind them, and the women behind the boys. He said the takbir whenever he prostrated and whenever he raised, and he said the takbir whenever he rose between the two rak'ahs when he was sitting.
