حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبَّاسُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِعَاصِمِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ اقْبِضْهَا إِلَيْكَ حَتَّى تَلِدَ عِنْدَكَ فَإِنْ تَلِدْهُ أَحْمَرَ فَهُوَ لِأَبِيهِ الَّذِي انْتَفَى مِنْهُ لِعُوَيْمِرٍ وَإِنْ وَلَدَتْهُ قَطَطَ الشَّعْرِ أَسْوَدَ اللِّسَانِ فَهُوَ لِابْنِ السَّحْمَاءِ قَالَ عَاصِمٌ فَلَمَّا وَقَعَ أَخَذْتُهُ إِلَيَّ فَإِذَا رَأْسُهُ مِثْلُ فَرْوَةِ الْحَمَلِ الصَّغِيرِ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُ قَالَ يَعْقُوبُ بِفُقْمَيْهِ فَإِذَا هُوَ أُحَيْمِرٌ مِثْلُ النَّبْعةِ وَاسْتَقْبَلَنِي لِسَانُهُ أَسْوَدُ مِثْلُ التَّمْرَةِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ صَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to 'Asim b. 'Adi: Take her into your custody until she gives birth at your place. If she gives birth to a red-skinned child, then he belongs to the father who disowned him, that is, to 'Uwaymir. But if she gives birth to a child with curly hair and a black tongue, then he belongs to Ibn al-Sahma'. 'Asim said: When the child was born, I took him, and his head was like the fleece of a small lamb. Then I took hold, as Ya'qub said, of his two jaws, and he was reddish like an arrowwood twig, and his tongue was black like a date. He said: So I said: Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth.
