✧ Abū Qatādah was owed a debt by a man, and he would come to him to collect it, but the man would hide from him. One day he came, and a boy came out, so he asked him about the man. The boy said: "Yes, he is in the house eating a khazīrah." So he called out: "O so-and-so, come out, for I have been told you are here." He came out to him, and he said: "What keeps you hidden from me?" He said: "I am in hardship and have nothing." He said: "By Allah, are you truly in hardship?" He said: "Yes." Abū Qatādah wept, then said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever relieves his debtor—or forgives him—will be in the shade of the Throne on the Day of Resurrection.'"
