✧ We traveled at night with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during a journey. We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, would you stop with us for a rest?' He said: 'I fear that you will sleep through the prayer. Who will wake us for the prayer?' Bilal said: 'I will, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: So he stopped with the people, and we lay down. Bilal leaned against his mount, and his eyes overcame him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up after the edge of the sun had risen, and said: 'O Bilal, where is what you told us?' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, by the One who sent you with the truth, no sleep was ever thrown upon me like it.' He ﷺ said: 'Allah [Mighty and Majestic] took your souls when He willed and returned them to you when He willed.' Then he ordered them, so they dispersed for their needs and performed ablution. The sun had risen, and he led them in the dawn prayer.
