حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسُ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَتَأَخَّرُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ مِنْ أَجْلِ فُلَانٍ مِمَّا يُطِيلُ بِنَا، فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ لَمُنَفِّرِينَ، فَأَيُّكُمْ مَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ
Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "I stay away from the dawn prayer because of so-and-so, due to how long he prolongs it for us." I never saw the Prophet ﷺ more angry in an admonition than he was that day. He said: "O people, some of you are driving people away. Whoever leads the people in prayer, let him be brief, for among them are the weak, the elderly, and those with needs."
