حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ

سَأُنَبِّئُكَ بِأَبْوَابٍ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ: الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِئُ الْخَطِيئَةَ كَمَا يُطْفِئُ الْمَاءُ النَّارَ، وَقِيَامُ الْعَبْدِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ: تَتَجَافَى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ

Translation

✧ "The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I will inform you of ten gates of goodness: fasting is a shield, charity extinguishes sins as water extinguishes fire, and the night prayer of a servant [to Allah] until reciting the verse 'Their sides forsake their beds' [as-Sajda 32:16] until the end of the verse.'"
