✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ seeking him, and it was said to me: 'He went out earlier.' He said: 'I did not pass by anyone except that he said, "He passed by earlier," until I passed and found him standing in prayer.' He said: 'I came and stood behind him.' He said: 'He prolonged the prayer. When he finished the prayer, [he said:] I said: "O Messenger of God, you have prayed a long prayer." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Indeed I prayed a prayer of desire and fear. I asked God [Mighty and Majestic] for three things, and He granted me two and withheld one. I asked Him not to destroy my community by drowning, and He granted it. I asked Him not to set over them an enemy not from among them, and He granted it. I asked Him not to make their might against one another, and He withheld it from me."
