✧ In the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when a man missed part of his prayer, he would ask them, and they would gesture to him indicating what he had missed of the prayer. Then he would begin and make up what he had missed, then join the people in their prayer. Mu'adh b. Jabal came while the people were sitting in their prayer, so he sat down. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, he stood up and made up what he had missed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do as Mu'adh did.”
